September 1, 2018 - UTTC Welcomes Redwood Meadows Tae Kwon-Do

Since 1995, Master Jason Smith and Mrs. Stacie Smith have operated their community martial arts school teaching Tae Kwon-Do to kids, adults and families in Redwood Meadows, Bragg Creek and nearby areas. Both Master Smith and Mrs. Smith began their training at young ages at J.J. Lee Tae Kwon Do School under the leadership of Grandmaster J.J. Lee. Joining UTTC is a significant milestone for Redwood Meadows Tae Kwon Do – one that allows the school to stay connected to the past and true to its traditional and foundational Tae Kwon-Do roots, but importantly also enables the school to focus on the future and on providing new and exciting opportunities for students.
November 3, 2019 - National Team Head Coach Named
UTTC is pleased to announce that Michael Joblonkay has accepted the position of Head Coach to the UTTC National Team program. Michael, a veteran member of the UTTC National Team, has competed for over 15 years, and with experience in both national and international-level events he will work with the UTTC Board of Directors to further develop the athletes training under the UTTC National Team Program.
UTTC proudly announces that our President and Co-founder Darin Gibson was awarded a ninth dan black belt on July 9, 2022 by Tae Kwon Do pioneer and Grand Master C.K. Choi. Grand Master Gibson’s 9th dan promotion was the result of a 40-year journey training, competing, teaching, and promoting Tae Kwon Do nationally and internationally. The first in North America, Grand Master Gibson is one of only two martial artists to be granted the highest honour of ninth dan by Grand Master C.K. Choi.
Also promoted include: Master Colin Nonomura (Lethbridge, 8th dan), UTTC vice president and co-founder; Master Jason Smith (Calgary, 7th dan), UTTC technical director; Mr. Michael Joblonkay (Lethbridge, 5th dan); and Mr. Scott Quan (Lethbridge, 5th dan)
July 11, 2022 - UTTC President Promoted to Ninth Dan
UTTC warmly welcomes Haechi Traditional Tae Kwon-Do as its newest member school. Opened in January 2022, Haechi offers twice-weekly classes to a growing number of students in Calgary. The school is owned by senior black belts Mr. Jason Smith (7th dan)/Mrs. Stacie Smith (4th dan), Mr. Clint Suntjens (4th dan), Mr. Ken Halverson (4th dan), and Mr. Jason Webb (4th dan).
